The Northwest Passage – a route almost across the top of the world – was long sought by the traders and explorers and military strategists of Europe, Russian Asia and the American north. Aboard the comfortable “Peregrine Mariner,” you can retrace the path of early explorers. On your way through the Canadian Arctic to the west coast of Greenland, you experience prolific wildlife -– including, with luck, the imperial polar bear -- and enjoy spectacular scenery, including glaciers, mountains, fjords, wild and barren beaches, and icebergs. You are also able to visit remote Inuit settlements.

By Icebreaker: An icebreaker is designed for breaking through sea ice. These ships were “working” vessels prior to taking on passengers. Travel to remote Polar Regions such as the North Pole or the Far Antarctic South to visit emperor penguin rookeries requires an icebreaker. Icebreaker programs generally focus on natural history and culture, and have on-board educational programs.
